New Event for Friday

Just got word that Fat Stans will be featuring the musical stylings of Dave Reynolds and Ross for the this month's First Friday.  Get there early for a good spot, they should kick off around 8pm.

March First Friday is nearly upon us!

We've got another FF just around the corner, and this one promises to be another rocking party...if you know where to go.  Wander Downtown to scope out all your favorite shops and galleries, they'll be open late and most are offering First Friday deals or Saint Paddy's events.  Do you have kids?  We've got you set up, pop into the library for Story Craft and build your own Kaleidoscope.  Wind your way down to the other end of the parking lot and check out the opening for "Puzzled", the brand new exhibit at the Mainstay Gallery.  Diane Naab curates a stunning display of what Ketchikan's artist's can do when their powers are combined.  Be there from 5-7 to see your favorite artist add their original piece to the Puzzle.  If you've been pining for some background on the Swan Lake / Tyee Lake intertie there will be a presentation on the specifics taking place at the Discovery Center from 7 t0 9.  After 9 we might want to call of the babysitter and send little Johnny or Jane home to bed because we've got live music and cold drinks kickin' off at the New York Cafe.  that's just the warm-up, Make the rounds downtown this Friday and let's get this city popping again.

Welcome to First Friday Ketchikan's new blog!  In the future we will use this space to update everyone on the happenings and also write about how the First Friday's are going.  As you know, December's First Friday coincides with the Ketchikan Art Council's Art Walk.  So make sure you hit all the great shops!  In January we will take a break after the mad rush of the holiday's.  Then, we will be on a roll for February until the end of the year and beyond.  Alaska also celebrates being a state for 50 years in 2009!  There will be lot's of great things happening all year long!
